YFC accomplishes it's mission with these local ministry programs.

  • Juvenile Justice Ministries:

What is Youth for Christ’s Juvenile Justice Ministry (JJM)?

Topeka YFC works primarily with teens at the Shawnee County Juvenile Detention Center (SNJDC), and the Kansas Juvenile Corrections Center (KJCC) in north Topeka.

Our strategy is to help young people develop a way of living taught by Jesus Christ; balancing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. We seek to build valued relationships that are sustained through ongoing involvement as they re-enter their communities.

    Why JJM?

On any given day in the US there are over 500,000 teens actively incarcerated in local detention centers. The sad fact is that, for many of these young people, the detention center is the only place they feel safe, have reliable meals, are sober, or are not facing constant verbal abuse. It is also a place of deep despair for many, and a place where they have the time to think about their lives with a clear mind and an open heart. It is during this time that they are most open to hearing the transformational message of Jesus. YFC’s JJM gives believers around the country effective tools to pursue the thousands of young people experiencing the challenges of incarceration, abandonment, addictions, and abuse in institutions and programs all over the United States.

How does JJM impact our youth?

Every kid is wired for relationship. Whether they are outgoing and loud or quiet and reserved, they want deep relationships with people who care about them. We believe this is a God-given desire, true of every kid, and we want to be those caring individuals who engage them in relationship. Every program, every interaction, is designed to build a relationship and to start conversation. Through those conversations we earn the right to speak into the lives of the youth we meet with the hope and saving grace of Jesus Christ.

  • YFC Core:

YFC Core is about encouraging each other to follow Christ in a way that naturally invites friends to follow Jesus with us. That means simple steps of faith obedient to Jesus’ command to love as He loves and be ready to share the Good News when the Holy Spirit prompts us.

YFC Core® is an effective way to mobilize students and adults to reach every teenager at a high school or middle school. We each have a limited sphere of influence in our lives for deep 3Story® relationships. YFC Core® provides an ideal platform for those adults with a heart, skill and gifts of mobilizing and discipling others into fruitful ministry. Some schools are closed to Youth for Christ adult staff. No school is closed to students. Students have existing relationships with their lost peers. YFC Core equips them to make the most of what God is already doing in those relationships.

YFC Core® is teams of Christian students with adult coaches who together, actively love in a way that naturally invites friends to follow Christ with them. YFC Core® is about relational evangelism and is committed to living and coaching 3Story®.
